Abstract:

Time-variant system reliability methods under Poisson pulse load processes are presented. Direct simulations based on incremental truss analyses are also performed. Small displacement assumption is made such that the change in geometry is neglected. Numerical examples show that in the time-variant system reliability analysis one needs to consider the loading time history, e.g., occurrence, intensity fluctuation, and coincidence in outcrossing rate evaluation as well as in identifying important failure mechanisms.
