Abstract:

Correlated non-Gaussian models of offshore loads and responses are developed. These require only correlation coefficients and either marginal distributions or moments. Simple estimates of the equivalent Gaussian correlation ?? are shown. Moment-based models of both long-term environmental variables, such as significant wave height and period, and short-term wave elevation are combined. These quantify the effects of model uncertainty in long-term distributions and nonlinear wave kinematics on extreme wave predictions.
