Abstract:

This paper presents the results of a reliability analysis carried out to estimate low frequency turbulent wind drag force (including extreme values) acting on a floating offshore structure. The analysis includes (i) the effect of the higher order term of turbulence on the magnitude of drag force, (ii) the effect of wind spectral shape, (iii) the effect of severity of wind speed, and (iv) height above sea level.
