Abstract:

A set of necessary and sufficient conditions for construction quality is developed. Numerical simulations are then performed to evaluate the effectiveness of various quality improvement strategies on the cost of quality non-conformance and productivity. Expressions for the cost of quality non-conformance in the construction process are developed utilizing statistics associated with the necessary conditions. Relationships between the cost of quality non-conformance and construction productivity are developed.
