Abstract:

A prototype system was created as part of a research project for the U.S. Navy Construction Battalions (the Seabees) and has been given the acronym SEACONS (SEAbee Construction Simulation). The model is able to utilize resources of variable sizes for the same work task, calculate running task durations during simulation, permit rule-based release of resources from queues, and maintain detailed statistics on each resource used in the process. Although it is not yet at the commercial level, the SEACONS system has shown that the listed goals can be achieved.
