Abstract:

The paper begins by defining the multi-prime contract for design services, under which there is more than one contract between design professional and owner for a single project. It then goes onto discuss the major difference between the multi-prime and single-prime contract methods, the multi-prime contract as a response to today's sophisticated building systems, the advantages of employing the multi-prime contract, the critical issue of on-site project coordination, an alternative to the multi-prime contract in the full-service prime professional, and other aspects of the subject.
