Abstract:

The potential use of precise Global Positioning System (GPS) phase tracking receivers in a realtime application is discussed in relation to the advancements to date in precise kinematic surveys. With the addition of a communication link to the already available receiver technology, a truly dependable precise source for possible robotic control is dependent on the next round of satellite launches which will provide the sufficient number of satellites in orbit required for acceptable convenience. Here the concepts are explained and examples supporting these contentions are given.
