Hydropower Development at Corps Lakes in Texas

by Jerry A. McCrory, Fort Worth District Corps of, Engineers, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Waterpower '89

Abstract:

This paper examines case studies of hydropower development at Corps of Engineers lakes in Texas. Hydropower development examined includes installations by the Corps of Engineers as well as installations by non-Federal interests, some of which used the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission process. Almost every available procedure to construct hydropower facilities at a Corps lake has been used within the State. Cooperation between the Federal Government and non-Federal entities concerning hydropower facilities has paid handsome dividends in the past and promises to continue paying those dividends in the future.
