Abstract:

Economic considerations are of primary importance to the planning and designing of pumped-storage in an electrical generation and distribution system. This paper deals with the optimum planning, design and construction of vertical shafts and tunnels which are frequently used for pumped-storage. Subjects covered include water flow considerations, mathematical models, sizing, and others.
