Abstract:

Operations, maintenance, and administration and support services can benefit from the concepts of World Class Manufacturing. Cellular organizational concepts whether its machines, people, or paper work close couple each succeeding step of the flow process. Total Quality Control does not allow a defective product to flow to the next production step. Instead of inspecting the end product and throwing away defective items, give employees the responsibility and the authority to control quality in their own work area. Just In Time flow which quickly finishes work once it starts. Use the organization's assets to produce usable goods and services. Do not allow assets in the form of unifinished goods lay idle. All these concepts fit well into the Hydro-electric industry and will improve the cost, quality and usefulness of its services.
