Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Waterpower '89

Abstract:

In order to provide a realistic basis of determining the viability of a wind-powered hydroelectric system at a potential site, an evaluation technique has been developed. Basically, this approach uses a synthesized wind speed time series to simulate the operation of a proposed wind-powered hydroelectric system at a potential wind farm. Method of synthesizing long-term wind speed time series from short-term wind data is discussed. An application of this approach is also illustrated.
