Abstract:

A watershed sediment transport model has been formulated and optimized upon storm hydrographs and the associated sediment load data for several watersheds that have been urbanized and stripped for coal. This information has thereafter been utilized to derive a mass balance model of sediment transport, which is called LOAD-I. A demonstration is shown of how to accomplish the utilization of hydrologic information to perform a sediment load balance without the necessity for detailed particle size distribution data and associated hydraulic data.
