Abstract:

The SETSIZE program, models sediment deposition in a settling basin. The program can be applied to determine the length of time until dredging or cleaning is necessary or solve for an unknown basin dimension such as length, width, or depth. This paper reviews the basic theory, assumptions, input requirements, output parameters and calculations used in developing the model. A case study on the design of the Crater Lakes Sedimentation Basin in Washington is also presented.
