Abstract:

Alluvial channel observations for laboratory and field conditions have been collected throughout the twentieth century. These data have not been adequately evaluated as to accuracy or completeness in one document. These types of flows present unusual and unique situations requiring non-traditional collection and laboratory analyses. To address these needs and to make sedimentologists aware of these data, the ASCE Task Committee (TC) on Analysis of Laboratory and Field Sediment Data Accuracy and Availability was formed in March 1988 under the Sedimentation Committee. This paper discusses the committee's purposes and goals, control members, task identification and implementation, and future work.
