Towards a Distinct Treatment of Incipient Motion for Bed Forms of Low Regime

Abstract:

The principle methods for estimating the incipient particle motion on developed bed forms in the lower regime are compared with each other. Usually only a part of the total wall shear stress, that determines the particle drag is considered to be effective for the onset of motion. Differences of this indirect approach and direct estimations of the particle entrainment at the deformed bed are outlined.
