Abstract:

The paper deals with the application of a two-equation model of turbulence to the calculation of flows in rectangular ducts. A non-linear relationship is used to link the Reynolds stresses with the mean rates of strain. This enabled a standard eddy-viscosity model to reproduce the turbulence-driven secondary motions. A preliminary assessment of the bedload transport rates in the presence of these motions is included.
