Abstract:

In order to assess the fate of fine particles and adsorbed contaminants due to tidal forcing in estuaries, a mathematical modeling system for cohesive suspended matter transport and bottom evolution is presented. New developments are detailed, especially a bed model and consolidation processes. The application to a macrotidal estuary shows off the ability of the model to represent realistic features and to give an understanding of processes, but also the need for calibrating each sedimentary law.
