by Chun-Hou Orr, Leicester Polytechnic, United Kingdom,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Computerized Decision Support Systems for Water Managers

Abstract:

The paper describes the operation and features of a suite of computer applications programs. These have been developed within the Leicester Polytechnic Water Control Unit for analysis, design, simulation, and control of water supply and distribution systems. Specifically, the paper reviews the independent operations of the programs: GIPADS, GINAS, GINED, GIPOS/GIMPOS and GIDAP. These programs are intended for use in both engineering and operational situations and are presently being used by a number of UK water authorities and engineering consultants. Although designed as individual modules, the programs are functionally related and can be used in conjunction with each other to form an integrated environment for on-line control schemes. The paper concludes with a description of the various inter-relationships.
