by Arthur F. Pabst, US Army Corps of Engineers, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Computerized Decision Support Systems for Water Managers

Abstract:

The success of a system of software that must provide the water control user with current information, model analysis results, and forecasts of future behavior, is closely associated with good data management. The Data Storage System (DSS) developed by the Corps of Engineers and in use by many offices for the storage of historical and real time data is discussed and illustrated. This system was originally implemented on a dedicated minicomputer system used by the Corps, and is being implemented on MS-DOS compatible microcomputers. Subjects covered include data sources, data storage, application programs, and others.
