People and Practicality in Water Management

Abstract:

A discussion of the water control management responsibilities of the St. Louis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is given, with particular emphasis upon people issues and upon practical considerations. People issues which are discussed include coordination with agencies and organizations and with the public. Practical considerations which are discussed include drought management, flood management, the influence of both recreational and wildlife interests, and idiosyncracies of the water resources projects.
