Abstract:

Erosion of exposed shorelines often introduces large quantities of sediment into the stored waters of stormwater retention basins. This additional sediment load can minimize the water quality enhancement otherwise gained from settling. Through the use of shoreline vegetation, it is possible to reduce this shoreline erosion and to achieve additional water quality benefits.
