Abstract:

Institutions engaged in research and teaching in the natural sciences, constitute a diffuse source of chemical emissions. As many institutions embark on ambitious building programs, communities have begun to ask what the added health risk to the community will be if such building plans are completed. This paper discusses one effort to document risk to the community from existing sources of chemical emission, and the incremental risk which would be added from new construction.
