Abstract:

Model pile pull-out tests have been conducted to investigate the characteristics of the critical relative displacement at which the critical pile skin resistance is mobilized. Test results show that the critical relative displacement is neither constant nor pile size dependent, but it is most closely related to the magnitude of the critical skin resistance. An empirical relationship between the two quantities has been established from the experimental results.
