Abstract:

Prepared by the Task Group on Compliant Offshore Platforms of ASCE.

This report considers the analysis and design of tension leg platforms (TLPs), systems with many components that influence the analysis and design of other components. The design of TLPs tends to be an iterative process that involves many engineering discipline, but this report focuses on only five: hydrodynamics, structural mechanics, environmental considerations, materials selection, and model testing. Chapters explains basic principles and provide enough information for designers, yet each chapter can also stand alone.

Subject Headings: Offshore platforms | Foundation design | Tension members | Structural analysis | Structural models | Materials processing | Material mechanics
