Abstract:

The design of a strengthening system for a tall building is proposed using ductile reinforced masonry shear walls. This innovative design concept produced a system that controlled the intra-story displacements, resisted torsion and provided excellent ductility. The structural strengthening cost for the building is less than $1 million.
