Abstract:

This paper identifies the architectural characteristics of 121 reinforced concrete buildings in Vina del Mar. These characteristics are related to the damage statistics for the building inventory, and some tentative conclusions drawn as to the influence of architectural configuration on building performance. Four buildings, which suffered damage ranging from none to severe, are evaluated in more detail.
