by Firdaus E. Udwadia, Univ of Southern California, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Seismic Engineering: Research and Practice

Abstract:

This paper explores the tradeoffs between structural identification and structural control in a quantitative manner. Through the intemediary concept of an optimal input, it is shown that significant tradeoffs between identification and control in structural systems may result. A numerical example is presented showing the methodology.
