Abstract:

Some statistics regarding bridges in Japan are firstly explained. Next, the limit states design which will be introduced in 1995 for highway bridge design specification in Japan is briefly described. Evaluation of bridge loading, such as dead load and live load follows. Finally load combination for the limit states design is discussed.
