Abstract:

The fatigue limit state is the governing limit state for the structural dimensions in several parts of offshore structures. Prediction of the fatigue life of tubular joints and other welded connections is subjected to a large uncertainty arising from uncertainties in the computation of the environmental forces, the global and local response analysis of the structure and the fatigue strength and damage accumulation. Reliability methods provide the tools for efficient and accurate uncertainty analysis.
