Abstract:
A model is presented which allows a designer to estimate stiffnesses required to provide a given critical buckling load in beam-supported slabs subjected to biaxial edge loading, such as slabs subjected to soil pressure in deep basements. Comparisons are made with an elastic buckling analysis of a plane grid model.
