Abstract:
The structural concepts, seismic analysis and design of five recent highrise structures is presented in this paper. The paper deals with the problem of multistory buildings having Structural Irregularity. The structural irregularity is defined as plan unsymmetry, uneven stiffness distribution, stiffness discontinuity and uneven mass distribution through the height of the building. The paper presents the comparison of the Code Equivalent Static Forces with forces generated using the site specific response spectrum method. Overall structural design criteria for such structures are summarized. Some of the important seismic design parameters and details are presented in the paper.
