Abstract:

Fast track concrete allows traffic back on pavement within 24 hours. Fast track concrete has been developing in Iowa for the last three years. Traffic rerouting, an inconvenience that can last for weeks during traditional concrete paving operations, is kept to a minimum. Fast track is a combination of quick-setting mixes and coordinated construction teams. In July 1986, seven miles of U.S. 71 in Iowa were resurfaced by the fast track technique. This project, as well as test results one year later, are described.
