Abstract:

Are U.S. contractors and engineers using the best models for designing soil nailing projects? Here in the U.S., the method has attracted the interest of contractors, engineers, research institutions and conference organizers. But there seems to be differences between U.S. and European design analyses. Soil nailing means soil improvement, as distinguished from conventional shoring. This definition is contrary to what most U.S. soil nailing designs convey.
