Education for Space Facilities Engineering

Abstract:

The Air Force Institute of Technology, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, contains a fully accredited graduate school of engineering which has the mission of meeting Air Force educational requirements in engineering and the physical and managerial sciences and of conducting research in these areas. Recently, Headquarters USAF requested the school to develop a program designed to prepare officers from the Civil Engineering career field for positions in the development of space facilities. This paper describes the process undertaken and the resulting curriculum.
