Explosives Research for Lunar Applications: A Review

by Patricia Mendoza Watson, Ohio State Univ, United States,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Engineering, Construction, and Operations in Space

Abstract:

Experimental explosives research for lunar operations is reviewed. Each research project had a different objective and together their findings showed that using explosives on the moon is possible and the effects can be predicted. The fact that this research exists is important in itself because it provides an experimental base from which models for the effects and behavior of explosives on the moon can be derived.
