Abstract:

Scientific and industrial operations on the moon require suitably shielded structures. Small structures for limited scientific activities may be constructed from structural elements prefabricated on earth and transported to the moon. However, large industrial structures on the moon must be constructed using in situ lunar materials. A potential material for such construction would be concrete. The objectives of the study are to perform structural analyses and a preliminary design for lunar concrete structures, and to evaluate its economic and technological feasibility.
