Abstract:

Presented is a numerical solution technique which employs the explicit predictor-corrector scheme of R.W. MacCormack in solving the governing two-dimensional equations of motion on a staggered grid. Convergence acceleration is sought through the use of a multigrid approach. Given that the technique is designed to solve for steady-state flow fields, A.V. Chorin's method is used to solve for pressure instead of Poisson solution. Results showing the validity of the scheme for both an inviscid and viscous model problem are presented.
