Abstract:

An interdisciplinary studies process was instrumental developing the controversial Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway in an environmentally responsible manner. The paper describes measures incorporated to minimize adverse effects, preserve important resources, promote conservation and encourage resource utilization and enjoyment. The approach serves as a model for future environmental engineering efforts.
