An Inline Retarding Basin

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Soil Properties Evaluation from Centrifugal Models and Field Performance

Abstract:

This paper discusses the idea of retarding flows within existing right-of-way in a linear basin. This concept is based on longitudinally dividing the right-of-way into two sections. The larger section is used for channel conveyance, while the remaining section is a vertical wall linear retarding basin. The concept is referred to in this paper as the 'Inline' retarding basin and was theoretically applied and hydraulically analyzed for the Talbert Valley Channel system in Huntington Beach, California.
