Abstract:

GSTARS is a Generalized Stream Tube model for Alluvial River Simulation. Depending on an engineer's need, GSTARS can be used as a fixed boundary as well as a movable boundary model. It can also be used as a one-, semi-two-, or semi-three-dimensional model. GSTARS can simulate the complicated width and depth adjustments of a channel during its channel forming or adjustment processes. It can handle the supercritical, critical, subcritical, and a combination of all these flow conditions without interruption. Examples of application of GSTARS are given in this paper to demonstrate its flexibilities and applicabilities in solving hydraulic problems.
