Abstract:

Propeller meters are now being used extensively to help quantify and manage the huge but poorly distributed water supplies available to irrigated agriculture in the western states. Careful manufacture and proper calibration of the instruments at the factory is the FIRST step in a quality metering program. Obtaining proper field installation is the SECOND step in assuring measuring accuracy. This paper discusses selection and installation of meters, meter types, flow conditions, and other aspects of the subject.
