Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Planning Now for Irrigation and Drainage in the 21st Century

Abstract:

A simple procedure using the Advance Ratio (AR) is presented. It utilizes on-farm gathered information of advance time, water application time, and depth applied for furrow irrigated field. This information is used in conjunction with a chart to determine with reasonable accuracy the potential application efficiency, distribution uniformity, and the losses to runoff and deep percolation. With this knowledge a manager can determine the effectiveness of his management program. Variations can be studied for comparison and economic decisions made.
