Abstract:

In 1978 the Department of Public Utilities in Salt Lake City began to develop a computer system to aid in the operation of the water system. The Department of Public Utilities computer has greatly aided in the operation of the water distribution system, reduced the number of personnel required and made the system more reliable. Even with tight budgets, most utility companies could install a computer monitoring and control system.
