Abstract:
National concern over leaking underground tanks storing hazardous materials and wastes has resulted in the implementation of the 1984 Amendments of RCRA, which include the requirement of minimum technology standards for new designs. The purposes of this paper are to cover the current regulations governing UST (underground storage tanks), present details of the codes and standards used by the UST industry, and to indicate the procedures for performing analyses of underground tank-soil interaction problem using the state-of-the-art technology.
