Abstract:

Extensive sewer collection system rehabilitation programs have done much and will continue to correct infiltration/inflow problems. However, re-evaluation of some of the earlier projects by the EPA and system operators revealed that significant quantities of I/I thought to have been eliminated in many cases had returned to the system. Further investigation revealed that most early work remained sound, but water had simply found other points of entry. This article discusses the use of in-place lateral reconstruction for correction of infiltration and inflow problems.
