Abstract:

A computer program for conversion of survey field notes directly into SB, BT, and GR cards with simultaneous cross-section plot is described. It was designed to simplify the coding of bridges. The program interpolates GR points for corresponding BT points and interpolates BT points for corresponding GR points. It determines the actual area between the low chord and ground, subtracting the pier area. An equivalent trapezoid is determined having the same area, low chord and invert elevations, and top width between abutments. As pier width is subtracted from the area, it is given as zero on the created SB card allowing HEC-2 to use the Normal Bridge routine for low flow conditions.
