Abstract:

A fixed steel offshore platform design specification based on reliability concepts has been developed which could become an alternate to the existing working stress code, American Petroleum Institute, RP2A. Several issues arose during the code development which not only impact the platform design specifications but which should be of interest to researchers and code writers for other structure types.
