Abstract:

A simplified reliability study of the effect of lateral wave forces impacting the deck of a fixed platform is presented. The reliability of the deck legs, considered the primary resistance elements, is illustrated for working stress design and load and resistance factor design formulations for varying magnitudes of lateral wave force and design air gap.
