Abstract:

The dynamic response of multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) systems to correlated multi-input random excitations utilizing recursive modeling is presented. The recursive model is formulated utilizing a Z-transform technique. The methodology permits analysis of nonstationary, or transient response of structures under stochastic loads by direct computation of the output covariance from a given nonstationary correlation structure of the input. The discrete Fourier transform of the proposed model permits the evaluation of the stability and accuracy of the solution. The system response can be expressed in an ARMA format based on the known ARMA representation of the input. The procedure is equally applicable to a wide class of nonlinear systems.
