Abstract:

Recent studies of source mechanisms and wave propagation models enable one to generate strong motions based on deterministic source and source-to-site characteristics. The normal mode theory is the approach used for this purpose. The objective of this paper is to derive a stochastic model of strong ground motion from the normal mode scheme. For this purpose the non-stationary features of the synthetic accelerograms are checked.
